Getting Started

Everybody needs somebody to love

Online dating and dating apps are the modern way to meet people for fun and romance. You might get lucky, you might find the love of your life, you might even get lucky and find the love of your life.

As a semi-retired dating site manager, I recommend the following dating websites for UK daters.

MATCH - it's the biggest dating site in the UK and a good place to start
GUARDIAN SOULMATES - genuine, left-leaning, guardian types
LOVESTRUCK - ideal for city based, busy professionals
TELEGRAPH DATING - for older, more conservative singles
CHRISTIAN CONNECTION - for religious singles

I'm starting this 'Dating recommendations' blog because I want to share what I've learned in many years managing a dating service, and to gather information and advice for online daters.  I do hope to earn some revenue from this eventually, but for starters I want to share my views and build a resource to help people share and enjoy the process of meeting new people online.

The recommendations above are based on my knowledge of which sites I think work best, those I've heard the best success stories from and those that are members of the UK Online Dating Association. I should tell you that for many years I was the manager of Guardian Soulmates, and a member of the ODA, and it's on this basis that I can recommend these sites. I'm putting Match first because it's by far the biggest dating site, and a good place to start your dating journey, and I've been to more marriages from Match than from Soulmates.

Please comment and let me know your experiences - good or bad - from online dating and dating apps.

I'll post more information soon about how to navigate the difficulties and maximise the pleasures of online dating.

Wishing you luck and love,

Jenny xx
